Healthy cooking demonstration workshop
Keys4 Health will present an holistic approach to health and wellbeing which will raise awareness of issues in an innovative way. Sessions will give information in accessible formats on these issues. Relaxation and stress management will be included as an important part of a preventative approach to stress-related illness. We will also deliver training in Health Action Planning as part of the NHS drive to make their services more accessible for people with learning disabilities, mental health conditions or brain injury. We will introduce healthy eating. As a result of the first session, we will produce simple booklets to help Self Advocates to maintain and develop the ideas explored in the sessions.
Aims:
Dance and movement workshop
- To share information on various health topics.
- To invite health professionals to talk about their roles.
- To raise confidence in talking about individual needs.
- To get a Health Action Plan started.
- To understand personal health needs.
- To create a circle of support.
- To look at preventative approaches to stress-related illness.
After the course people will:
- Have an understanding of Health Action Plans/ have their own Health Action Plan.
- Have an understanding of patient rights.
- Have met other people outside their regular friendship circle.
- Have gained confidence and assertion.
- Speak more confidently with health professionals.
- Look at easy read methods to access information as appropriate.
