Flight for Gary

FACE Facts fundraising activities really are beginning to take off as Ravenair, one of the North-West's leading flight training organisations, have generously offered Nicola Mainwaring a flight in a Piper Tomahawk training aircraft completely free of charge!

Nicola Mainwaring
Nicola has raised over £2,000 in memory of her uncle

The FACE Facts campaign is a tribute to Nicola's uncle Gary Skelly and after his death she wanted to do something to raise awareness and funds for FACE Facts. She chose to fly a plane as Gary was always interested in trains and planes and was an avid model collector. It therefore seemed like a fitting way to remember him.

Steve Barker, the Operations Manager at Ravenair said "This is a very worthwhile and innovative scheme and I am pleased that Ravenair can be part of FACE Facts' continued success in fundraising."

We would like to wish the best of luck to Nicola who will be flying away from John Lennon Airport on the 4th of June! Despite her nerves we think she will be in safe hands as Ravenair have been teaching people to fly for 28 years.

UPDATE 6/6/11: Nicola successfully completed her flight on Saturday! Friends and family were there to cheer her on, and her fundraising continues to take off.

UPDATE 30/6/11: Nicola has raised over £2,000 for the FACE Facts campaign! The money will go toward the next phase of the campaign which is taking the film's message into Merseyside schools with the help of MOWLL's Peer Advocates who were Gary's friends at MOWLL. Well done Nicola, what an amazing achievement!

You can still donate to Nicola's campaign by visiting her Just Giving page. You can also donate by text; Just text FACE01 and the amount you'd like to donate to 70070.
