Then it was the Gentlemen of MOWLL's turn to talk about their activities in 2011
Cllr Roy Gladden got up to talk about supporting the Gentlemen of MOWLL
Lee McDermott, Pearl Mann and Lorna Towner got up to talk about working on the 2011 Keys 4 Independence course
Heidi and Loretta got up to introduce the main Awards part of the evening
Margaret Lloyd received The "I Care" Award, voted for by Self Advocates in recognition of individual contribution to peer support
Ben Donovan also won an "I Care" Award, but was not able to be there on the night. John Monks accepted the award on his behalf.
Stephen Bell won the "MOWLL's Got Talent!" Art Award
John Monks won the "MOWLL's Got Talent!" Digital Champion Award, which was sponsored by Granby Toxteth Development Trust and presented by Pearl Mann
Jenny Robinson won the "MOWLL's Got Talent!" Music Award, which was presented by Jonny Walker
Lee Kavanagh won The Big Leap Award, for the distance travelled in somebody’s learning, increased confidence or contribution to the sessions in a short space of time. It was sponsored and presented by Rita Hunter
Jacqui and Stu got up to talk about their friend Gary Skelly
Gary's sister Pat also spoke about Gary to introduce the first annual Gary Skelly Friendship Award
Lee Murphy won the Gary Skelly Friendship Award for helping develop meaningful, natural and sustainable friendships. It was sponsored and awarded by David and Diane Robinson.
Diane Robinson, mother of Peer Advocate Jenny Robinson, won the Bill Blunn Hope Award in recognition of her work setting up a MOWLL Parents & Carers Support Group
Professor Barry Goldson accepted the Friend of MOWLL Award on behalf of the University of Liverpool's School of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology
Barry then presented the Moving On With Learning Award, sponsored by the University, to Keeley Whittaker. The award is presented for progression in learning and seizing the opportunity to progress to further education
Edward Rudd won the Moving On With Life Award, presented for overcoming numerous barriers to move on in independence. The award was sponsored by Liverpool City Council and presented by Councillor Roz Gladden.
Jacqui Haslam won the Making A Difference Award, presented for the positive difference somebody makes to increase their peers’ confidence and/or contribution to the sessions. The Award was sponsored and presented by Rosie Goodwin.
Fianlly, Billy Gandy was awarded the Citizenship Award, presented for the active contribution a person makes at MOWLL, with their peers, in their community and in their personal life.
